Hampton Roads Chapter Naval Submarine League December Meeting

Mr. Munson will make a presentation titled ‘The Ninth Patrol’ describing his father’s (CDR Henry Munson) ninth (Rasher’s fifth) WW II war patrol as Commanding Officer of USS Rasher (SS 269). Munson and the RASHER were responsible for the most total tonnage of sunk and damaged ships during any U.S. submarine war patrol during WW II. Twenty-one of twenty-four torpedoes that were fired hit the target. But far more are the stories of the families and crews that supported these gallant actions. These stories are derived from personal recollections and meetings with many of the officers and crew. The presentation illustrates the technical and human development of undersea warfare from 1915 thru advanced nuclear boats of the 1960s.

In Person meeting will be held in the Norfolk Room at Sewells Point Golf Course. Deli plate meal service will be provided following the presentation.
