USS Cassin Young (DD 793)
Cassin Young is a 1971 graduate of the US Naval Academy who flew the A-6 Intruder for 20 years, accumulating 800+ carrier landings.  After retiring from the Navy he flew numerous Boeing aircraft and the Airbus A-320 for United Airlines over a 20 plus year career.  He is the namesake grandson of the late Captain Cassin Young, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.  Captain Young was Commanding Officer USS Vestal (AR 4), moored outboard USS Arizona at the time of the attack.  Captain Young was killed 11 months later by enemy gunfire while serving as Commanding Officer USS San Francisco (CA38) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.  The USS Cassin Young (DD 793) is co-located with USS Constitution at Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, Massachusetts.  LCDR Young is the son of the late Captain Charles Young, a Submariner and Naval Aviator, who made 8 war patrols aboard the USS Drum (SS 228) during World War II.  Captain Young later commanded USS Redfin (SSR 272), was commissioning Commanding Officer of USS Thomas Edison (SSBN 610), Officer in Charge of the Naval Submarine School, and Commander Submarine Squadron 18.
